A couple weeks ago, my sister and I went to New York for a short trip. We wanted to go for years, but for some reason it never happened, so last september we were really excited we finally would go. Well a girl gotta eat, so before we got on the plane we search the internet for some places to eat. Some of the restaurants we went were truly amazing some a little less, but in the end we have had some amazing meals everyday. So I wanted to try and summarise a few places where we went just incase you’re heading to the Big Apple anytime soon and need any places to eat :)

1. BEC NYC - bacon egg cheese
148 8th avenue chelsea
This was the first place we went to eat breakfast. As a real Dutchie I am used to eat just regular bread with cheese or peanutbutter in the morning. So something with egg and bacon was kinda weird to eat as a breakfast. But, I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. It was delicious!

2. Westway diner
614 9th Ave, manhatten
Another place we went for breakfast was the westway diner. A place with typical American breakfast, like pancakes or scrumbled eggs with bacon. It was amazing! we went here more than once, since we both liked it so much.

3. Roberta's
261 Moore St, Brooklyn
We already read that this place was really popular, so to be sure there was place for us we went a bit early. And we were lucky because half an hour later there was a waiting line. But, I did get the waiting because the pizza was delicious fresh made and oven baked
4. Sylvia's
328 Malcolm X Blvd, Harlem
Over the weekend we met with our former exchange sister (she's American) and her fiancé and they took us to Sylvia's. They told us it was absolutely soul food, so my sister and I were really curious for the food. And since there was a super long waiting line when we left I think there are more people loving the food there. But, eventhough I liked the food, it was not soul food to me. But I guess that's because I think of other, more fresh food as soul food.

5. Le pain quotidien
124 7th Ave, Chelsea
This was the best place for lunch I have ever been, everything was so fresh, delicious, healthy and much, I had eaten almost enough for the rest of the day and flight back home..

Do you have any recommendations  for the next time I visit New York?

This summer went by so freaking fast.. Maybe it's because i've been away a lot, but it feels like june was just yesterday.. But since there is a whole season gone, I thought I should share with you my september favourites.

1. Sleek highlighting palette Solstice.
I got this beauty for my birthday from two of my closest friends. One of them already had this palette and she thought that I would like it too, well she couldn't be more right. I think the colours are gorgeous and really pigmented. There are four colours one for your browbone, one for your cheekbone, one for your cupidbow and one for your nose, very useful but I tend to use one colour for everywhere.

2. Essence colour & care nail polish in 02 I care for you.
This is such a beautiful pastel/nudish nail polish wich I used a lot in the past month.

3. Essence sheer and shine lipstick in 03 bff.
I used this lipstick almost everyday, it is a red/pink lipstick but it is quite transparent so it's not too heavy.

4. CLUSE la bohéme rose gold white/grey watch.
This watch is simple but clasic and you can wear it with almost everything. And that's exactly how I wore it.. with everything. When me and my sister were in New york two weeks ago, I left it on Dutch time so I would know if it was a good time to contact my parents, since my father was really nervous for us to be there because of the explosion a few days before we went.

I've never really struggled with bad skin, lucky me! But that doesn't mean I don't use products to cleanse and protect my skin, since I discovered my skin looks way more healthy if I take good care of it.
Today I will be sharing my current morning routine for combinated skin.

Step 1. Clinique liquid facial soap, mild.
I always start the day with cleansing my skin, if I am in a hurry I use it with my hands, but most of the time I put a bit on my w7 electric face cleanser. The clinique cleanser leaves my skin soft and clean without making it feel dry.

Step 2. Garnier Micellar cleansing water.
I use this after my cleanser, it removes every last trace of makeup from my face and eyes and it leaves my skin feeling really refreshed and clean afterwards.

Step 3. Olay regenerist luminous brightening and protecting moisturizer spf 20.
I started using this, because I needed a spot-fading moisturizer with spf.
I am not really sure about the spot-fading, but the moisterizer leaves my skin soft and healthy and is protecting it against to much sunlight.

If I have a lot of time, mostly in the weekends, I also use a scrub inbetween step 1 and 2.

Step 1,5. Oak seesand peeling.
The seesand removes dead skin cells and reduces impurities. It makes my skin complexion fresh and naturally pure.

If anyone has any recommendations about a spot-fading moisturizer don't hesitate to tell me! I would love to try a new one.

Since I am home from my vacation in Canada, I am really back into backing again. I like searching for new recipes and making new things. So when my mom found a recipe on Facebook she immediately said that it was something for me to make. And that's what I did, I made a perfect white chocolate cheesecake. Of course I had to share the recipe with you guys on my blog.

You will need:
450g creamcheese
250g whitechocolate
200g bastogne biscuits (or whatever kind of biscuits you usually use for the crust)
100g melted butter
250g crème fraiche
4 eggs
1 vanilla bean

1. Crumble the Bastogne biscuits and add the melted butter. Mix until well mixed.
2. Cover the bottom of the springform with the bastogne mixture and press firmly with a spoon. When ready put the springform in the fridge
3. Put the creamcheese in a bowl and mix until smooth. Add the the marrow of avanilla and the eggs one by one when the creamcheese bowl is smooth. Mix everything thoroughly.
4. Melt the white chocolate (au bain-marie) and add the crème fraîche. Mix until smooth.
5. Add the white chocolate mixture to the cream cheese mixture and mix everything well.
6. Take the springform with bastogne crust out of the fridge and fill it with the filling. Put the cheesecake in a preheated oven (150 degrees Celsius) for 50-55 minutes.
7. After 50-55 minutes your cheesecake is almost ready. The exterior should be firm and the inside should still be a little soft and wobbly. Make sure the cheesecake has cooled down and remove the springform pan. A little 4 hours (preferably overnight) in the refrigerator and the white chocolate cheesecake is ready! You can eat like this but I did put some grated white chocolate on top the cheesecake. Bon appetit!

I started watching youtube a couple years ago. At first I tought it would be nice to see what kind of products there are on the market and to learn how to use my make up and stuff like contouring (which I still can't). But lately I keep thinking it wasn't really a good thing to start watching in the first place. since it is definitely not good for my purse. Obviously no one ever said, Jilldau, you absolutely have to buy this, but it is to often that I think, yeah I  need that lipstick, because I don't have a colour exactly like that. For one thing that is good, because it is why they make those video's but for me definetely not..
So today I thought I'd share with you all the make up products I bought because of youtubes. As you will read, especially Zoella - Zoe Sugg, made me buy quite some pieces, but ofcourse she is not the only one.

1. The Naked 3 palette from Urban Decay. It took me a while to buy this, since it is quite expensive, but I haven't regret it ever since. It is just a gorgeous palette.
Youtuber: every youtuber ever

2. Rimmel Match prerfection. I am wearing Rimmel london foundation since the first time I use foundation. At first I used the one with the orange lid, but they hardly sell it anymore in The Netherlands. So after watching youtube I decided to give this one a go, and it is percfect for me,
Youtuber: Zoella - Zoe Sugg

3. Collection lasting perfection concealer. When I am in London, I am always taking a couple of these concealers home with me.

4. Zoeva make up brushes. When I bought that beautiful naked 3 palette I thought I would also needed some eyeshadow brushes. So I went on youtube and looked what the famous youtubers use. In the end I decided to go for the 231 luxe petit crease and the 227 luxe soft definer.
I also have the 105 luxe highligth but that one is not in the picture. They also have some beautiful rose gold brushes, so I think, since I need some new ones, I am gonna buy a couple of them too.

5. Revlon colorburst Matte balm in audacious. I bought this one in The USA two years ago, since they didn't sell in The Netherlands at that time. I saw Ingrid Nilsen wear it in one of her video's and thought it was a really pretty color for someone with dark hair and not a pale skin like me. But however I still think it is a pretty color, I just wore it only once because it just don't suit me.
Youtuber: Ingrid Nilsen

6. real Techniques buffing brush. I use this brush almost everydayit is just perfect. I also have the Miracle Complexion sponge, which I use when I have a little more time.

 7. Rimmel London Natural bronzer. I think I have seen this one in a couple video's but I am not very sure. My skin gets easily toned and the color stays for a long time, but in winter my skin can look a little pale sometimes. So, I thought I needed a bronzer, but I didn't need it that much.. I think it is a good bronzer, I just don't use it much

8.  Max factor voluptuous false lash effect mascara. I am so happy I bought this one. This mascara makes my lashes so long and black without lumps. It is just perfect.

Have you ever bought something because you saw someone use it on youtube?

My last monthly favourites was also a March one, but two years ago.. So since March is already over I wanted to share my favourites from last month.

1. First I start with the eyeshadow palette. I already did a review on this palette here. The Make up revolution palette contains 32 natural shades that I love using on a daily base.

2. Ultra Blush Palette Golden Sugar. This one contains bronzers, merged blushers, a baked bronzer and 2 merged baked highlighters. I especially love the highlighters.

3. The NuMe classis curling wand 32mm. The curls this wand makes are just perfect. I can best describe them as soft romantic.

4. Garnier micellair water. I really like the micellair water from Garnier. It is gentle, cleans quickly and efficiently and doesn't stick. After I use it, my skin feels really clean.

5. W7  Electric face cleanser. I wanted to try an electronic cleanser for ages, but they are so expensive. So when I came across this one I had to try it, since it was only about €15. This water resistant Face Cleanser has a rotating brush and it leaves my skin clean. I've never suffered that much from blemishes, but I have an even more smooth skin now.

6. Book: The lake of dead languages, in Dutch: Het meer van de meisjes. I didn't have that much time to read lately, but in March I did find some to read this book. In my opinion it is a real page-turner, so i didn't take that much time to read it.

7. Music: Jess Glynne - take me home. I love this song, but maybe it is because it reminds me of myself sometimes.

Do you have any favourites or recommendations?

(L-R Essence all about cupcake, Essence almost famous, Essence Coral calling, Essence Coral mousse The matte, Teeez Centre ville)

Just like shoes a girl can never have enough lipsticks. In the winter I only use one or two quite neutral colors, I really like the Rimmel Kate matte lipstick in 107, but on others. For me it is just a little to bold.. But now the weather is becoming a bit warmer, I bring back my spring colors. So today I share with you the five most worn lipsticks that I absolutely love having in my makeup collection. It is a bit monotonous, because four lipsticks are from the brand 'essence'. Three of these are matte shades. Matte shades are a bit more long lasting and you want these to last well and with limited smudging. The first two lipsticks both have a sheer glow. The first shade 'all about cupcake' is more of an old pink, a neutral color you barely see, like your lips but better. Almost famous is a light red color, which gives the lips just a little bit more color. Coral calling is a lipstick with a nice, warm coral color. Coral Mousse is a very fresh, summery coral shade with peachy tints. And last but not least Centre ville van Teeez, a coral red color with matte finish.
What is your favourite lipstick?

The last thing I needed was an other eyeshadow palette, but since it was only €9,99 I couldn't resist it..
I went for a palette from makeup Revolution, an Englisch brand with good quality products for an affordable price.

The palette contains 32 nude and natural, day and night and shimmer and matte shades.
It comes in a golden, carton box what gives it a little bit of a luxury feeling. The palette itself is glossy black, which makes fingerprints clearly visible.
It is a palette with a lot of colors, but it still turns out very easy to hold, 17.5 cm x 10 cm. The mirror has the full width and height of the palette, so in my opinion ideal to use for traveling (you don't have to bring another mirror).

These are the swatches from the first row, left to right. Paper, Soft glow, Buff, Highlite, Angel, Unlimited, Brew, Silver smok

Almost there, Uncover, Barely pink, Lowlite, Golden night, Gold digger, Cheerless, Blue

Smudge, Shimmer heart, Universal, Copper shimmer, Medal, Darkest shimmer, Tarnish, Black tie

Pure chocolate, Raw, Red night, Molton chocolate, Burgandy nights, Greenstars, Café noir, Night

I started using this palette the day I got it and it instantly became my go-to palette. The colors blend in really smoothly and although not all the shades are equally pigmented, they all look beautiful on the eyes.
I love light pinkish shades and the palette has lots of them, my faforites are Uncover, Shimmer heart,
Golden night and medal.

The last time I baked something was 2 weeks ago. I made a lemon meringue pie, but unfortunately it totally failed.. Well that didn't stop me from trying to bake these chocolate chip cookies. And I am glad I did, because they turned out to be just perfect. So because I didn't want to keep the recipe just for myself I decided to share it with you!

For the cookies you need:
225g unsalted butter
170g caster sugar

170g granulated sugar
1 egg
455g plain flour
10ml  vanilla extract
5g baking soda
1 pinch salt
250g chocolate pieces + some to put on top of the cookies
You will also need:

Preheat your oven to 190c
1. Put the butter and both sugars together and mix it for approximately 2-3 minutes.Add the egg and vanilla-extract mix everything together until full incorporated2. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking soda and salt.3. Now mix the contents of both bowls together until smooth. Then add the chocolate chips.4. Use your hands to form small balls and pop onto a lined baking tray leaving a bit of space for the cookies to spread out.
5. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until the cookies are lightly golden brown. Slide them onto a rack for them to cool.
